Amoeba

Amoeba is a design engineering studio for ambitious B2B software companies.

Rent a design engineer for your SaaS UI

Is your app rough around the edges? Are you looking to buff out the AI slop from your interface?

Populate a backlog of issues and I’ll ship polished UI as pull requests for your engineering team to review. This is software: SaaS product UI, React interfaces, diffs your team can read.

$500 / week

Backlog in, pull requests out

You fill a backlog with interface issues. I work that list. You get pull requests of polished UI. Your engineers review them the same way they review anyone else’s code.

I am Bryan King. I run Amoeba from Newport, Kentucky. The rental is the week against that backlog. The same offer, and the same price, sit on the homepage.

Who it’s for

Ambitious B2B software companies. You have a product. Customers are in it. The UI is rough, or a model made it look finished. You have engineers who review pull requests, and you want someone who will design the fix and open it.

If the backlog is still a guess, listen to your customers before you rent the week. I can polish the wrong screen as steadily as the right one. The work page shows the kind of interface I mean: product UI screenshots, with no client names and no writeups.

The chops behind the diff

Product design, design systems, front-end engineering, user research, usability testing, product management, and the software development lifecycle. That list is on the homepage. The rental is the UI backlog, done with those skills, delivered as code.

If the backlog is generated UI, run the UI polish checklist and turn the misses into issues.

Questions

What do I get?

You populate a backlog of UI issues. I ship polished UI as pull requests for your engineering team to review.

What does it cost?

$500 / week.

Is this a software design engineer?

Yes. SaaS product UI, React interfaces, and pull requests into a repo. Mechanical and CAD design engineering is a different trade.

Who reviews the pull requests?

Your engineering team. The deliverable is a pull request, and review stays with the people who own the codebase.

What do you hand over?

Pull requests of polished UI. I work in the repo. When a screen has states worth seeing together, I draw them in Figma and bring the changes back. What you review is the diff.

Who is this for?

Ambitious B2B software companies that already have a product, a UI backlog, and engineers who can review pull requests.

Where are you based?

Newport, Kentucky.

Can I see the work?

The work page is screenshots of product UI. I do not publish client names or results there.

Should I hire a product designer or a frontend engineer instead?

Sometimes. The three roles own different work.

Should I hire someone full time instead?

Sometimes. A priced week works a backlog. A job holds the product.

How do I start?

Message me on X. That is the contact path this site publishes. Send the backlog, or a link to the repo. There is a short intro on the info page.
